Bay Area Jewish Parents Call Out JCRC’s Misrepresentation of Governor Newsom’s Anti-Israel Stance

San Francisco, CA – The Concerned Jewish Parents of the Bay Area (CJP) today expressed their profound disapproval of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC)’s handling of Governor Gavin Newsom’s controversial letter to Muslim, Palestinian American, and Arab American communities. According to CJP, the JCRC’s response has downplayed the governor’s statements, which they believe veers into anti-Israel territory, ignoring significant concerns within the Jewish community.

“Governor Newsom’s letter following the October 7 Hamas attack has caused great concern amongst Jewish parents, as it seems to prioritize political correctness over the safety and sentiments of the Jewish community,” said a spokesperson for the CJP. “We are disheartened to see JCRC not only fail to address these issues but appear to diminish the real threats of antisemitism faced by our community.”

The CJP is urging the JCRC and other Jewish organizations to re-focus their efforts on combating antisemitism directly, rather than diluting these efforts under a broad “anti-hate” agenda. The parents group is asking for a clearer, more assertive stance that does not compromise on defending Jewish and Israeli interests.

“We expect our representatives to fight against all forms of antisemitism without reservation,” CJP added. “This includes being clear about the threats posed by misleading political statements that could undermine the security of Jewish communities here and abroad.”

The CJP has called for an immediate and unequivocal rejection of Governor Newsom’s approach and is actively seeking more robust advocacy from their leaders in addressing these critical issues.

The Concerned Jewish Parents of the Bay Area is a group committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Jewish families in the San Francisco Bay Area. They advocate for strong and clear stances on issues affecting the Jewish community, emphasizing the need for direct action against antisemitism and support for Israel.
